Over 70% of Zimbabwe’s wildlife has been decimated in past decades, so why not help make a difference by joining one of our wildlife conservation volunteer programmes based here at Imire. Volunteers play a valuable role within the game park and local communities and our rhino conservation and breeding programme relies on the support of these volunteers. Leave your footprint on Imire forever, knowing that you have helped protect and conserve one of our planet’s most endangered and vulnerable species, the black rhino.
Our Wildlife Conservation Programme is a very hands-on volunteer programme focusing on black rhino and elephant conservation. Volunteers get hands-on experience in our rhino breeding programme and elephant interaction initiatives. Your time is split between working closely with and observing the rhino and elephant, working in the game park, carrying out anti-poaching patrols and working in the local community on various community development and teaching projects.
We also offer an Horse Riding and Rhino Conservation Programme which is absolutely perfect for horse-lovers who are passionate about wildlife conservation. The programme is the perfect combination of horse riding safaris through the African bush, horse-back anti-poaching patrols and game monitoring, cattle ranching and hands-on rhino and elephant conservation.
We believe that for any conservation programme to have long term sustainability it must be combined with community outreach and empowerment initiatives. Every Rhino Conservation and Horse Riding volunteer at Imire will help in our local school providing teaching assistance, conservation support and environmental education to the children. This is often the most popular part of the programme!
Our wildlife conservation programmes need volunteers in order to grow. But you’ll find that you grow a little bit, too, after a volunteering experience with Imire.
